Developed From Racing Cars, Toyota Presents Aero Performance Packages For GR Yaris

Toyota Gazzo Racing (TGR) announced plans to launch a 'Aero performance package' of GR Yaris, which combines insights gained from motor sports, at Toyota vehicle dealers across Japan starting October 1, 2025.

Quoting from its official website, Friday, September 12, the package consists of six items, starting from the front with a lined aluminum engine hood modeled like the engine hood of GRMN Yaris.

The package was developed through the use of these components at the Japan Reli Championships, and this is aimed at improving cooling performance through heat disposal from the engine room.

In addition, the downforce and front lip spoilers are aimed at increasing overall GR Yaris aerodynamic balance by reducing the lift power at the front of the car. Front spoilers are added based on input from professional racer Oshima.

At the back of the front wheel, the package includes a front sepabor channel that releases the air collected in the front steering room, which is said to increase the sense of steering when the front of the car dives during heavy braking, and helps the stability of the handling when entering the corner.

Turning to the bottom of the car, there is a set of fuel tank covers that optimize airflow along the bottom of the car, and this is inspired by the flat shape of the fuel tank on racing cars, the manufacturer said.

On the back, this package is equipped with a rear bumper channel to reduce the bemper parachute effect and lower barrier coefficients. This channel has been developed to deal with the harsh motor racing conditions, Toyota said. Adjustable rear wings are also added to the back of the car's roof.

There is no change in the engine side, meaning that it still produces 304 PS at 6,500 rpm and 400 Nm from 3,250 rpm to 4,600 rpm, and a six-speed manual transmission option (iMT) with autoblip, or an automatic transmission of eight Gazoo Racing speeds, both with a GR-Four multi-plate coupling AWD driveline and a forward and rear LSD Torsen.

The price of the Toyota GR Yaris facelift with the Aero performance package in Japan starts from 4,055,000 yen or around Rp450 million, for the RC variant manual six accelerations, or 4,405,000 yen or equivalent to Rp489 million, and the RZ variant with the higher Aero performance package is priced at 5,475,000 yen or the last RZ 8AT version is valued at 5,825,000 yen or Rp647 million.
