Bone Crack Injury, Ester Could Be Six Months Absent

JAKARTA Women's singles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo is estimated to be absent for a maximum of about six months due to a fractured injury at the base of her right dry bone while undergoing training.

This information was confirmed by the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) in an official statement received by the media on Friday, September 12, 2025, evening WIB.

Retnoningtyas, who is a PBSI Pelatnas doctor, said that Ester's recovery time might be much faster.

"It takes about 3-6 months to recover depending on the slow results of each evaluation. Ester will be ready to compete no later than February 2026," he said.

Retnoningtyas further said that the initial evaluation had been carried out with Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

"As a result, a callus (new bone) has appeared and its development is positive according to the expected target. Currently, physiotherapy and strengthening are routinely carried out every day, then it will be evaluated every six weeks," he said.

The 20-year-old badminton player who was born in Jayapura last appeared at the Super 300 BWF Taipei Open 2025 in May. At that time, he ran aground in the first half.

It was his fourth tournament of the year, including the Sudirman Cup which is a mixed team tournament. The other two events he participated in were the Ruichang China Masters and the Badminton Asia Championship (BAC).
