Drone Attack On Russia's Primorsk Port Hanguskan Ship And Pump Station

JAKARTA - The drone attack at the port of Primorsk, Russia, northwest, set fire to ships and pump stations on Friday.

This is the first drone attack reported against one of the country's largest export terminals of oil and fuel.

Since early August, Ukraine has intensified attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, including refineries and pipelines, as peaceful negotiations are still stalled.

Other ports, including the nearby Ust-Luga and the Novorossiisk in the Black Sea, have repeatedly been targeted in recent months.

Russia has revised its crude oil export plans for September from western ports to 2.1 million barrels per day (bpd), an 11% increase from its initial schedule, as drones against domestic oil refineries have reduced demand for local crude oil.

Reported by Reuters on Friday, September 12, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said the fire on the ship in Primorsk had been extinguished, and there was no risk of spilling oil products.

More than 30 drones were destroyed in the region.

Primorsk is located in Finland Bay near St. Petersburg. Russia's air transportation agency, Rosaviatsia, said Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg suspended operations for several hours on Friday morning.

The Russian military said its air defense system intercepted and destroyed 221 Ukrainian unmanned aircraft overnight, including nine over Moscow.
