Trump Sends Letter To Lukashenko, Belarus Releases 52 Prisoners Including US Citizens

JAKARTA - Belarus released 52 United States (US) prisoners who are currently on their way to Lithuania.

Presiden Donald Trump sebelumnya mendesak Presiden Belarus Alexander Lukashenko untuk membebaskan para penjabat yang disebut Trump sebagai "sandera".

"The US leadership delegation led by assistant deputy to President Trump, John Coale, is heading for Vilnius after negotiations in Minsk, with 52 detainees from various countries released," a spokesman for the US Embassy in Vilnius said on Thursday, September 11.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko previously told President Trump's envoy his party was ready to reach an agreement to release prisoners, the Belta government news agency reported.

Lukashenko welcomed John Coale, a lawyer acting on behalf of Trump, in Minsk.

Coale submitted a letter from Trump in English to Lukashenko signed "Donald".

"If Donald insists that he is ready to accept all these released prisoners, God bless you, let's try to come up with a global deal, as Mr Trump has often said, a big deal," said Lukashenko, who also praised the US leader for seeking a peace agreement in Ukraine.
