Ambassador Xiao Qian Congratulates Eid Al-Fitr, Ensures Protecting 20 Million Muslims In China

JAKARTA - Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Xiao Qian congratulated Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri. The Ambassador encouraged the friendship of fellow Muslims in Indonesia and China.

"On the occasion of this holy and peaceful Eid al-Fitr, I on behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, sincerely say hello to fellow Indonesian Muslims," he said through a video released on the official social account of the Chinese Embassy on Facebook quoted by Antara, Thursday, May 13.

In the middle of a day of victory for Muslims around the world, Xiao Qian asserted that the Chinese government respects and protects the freedom of belief and customs exercised by Chinese Muslims by the law.

Today, more than 20 million people in China are Muslims and are fasting throughout Ramadan this year, as Muslims do in Indonesia.

"Just like all of you who are celebrating Eid al-Fitr with a happy atmosphere. With this opportunity I wholeheartedly pray for the friends of Muslims of both countries to live a happy, healthy and prosperous life", he said.

He encouraged Muslims in both countries to be able to contribute to the friendship between Indonesia and China so that the relationship between the two is closer and stronger.

Eid al-Fitr 1442 H this year, which falls on Thursday becomes the second year that Muslims around the world celebrate in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
