Waiting Ends, Spotify Finally Launches Lossless Audio
JAKARTA Spotify promised the 'HiFi' level four years ago, Spotify finally launched Lossless audio for its platform users. Now, users can access more premium audio quality.
Lossless audio offers audio streaming quality up to 24-bit/44.1kHz in FLAC format. This quality is even slightly higher than the generally 16-bit/44.1kHz audio CD quality. Almost the entire Spotify catalog has supported audio playback in this format.
The good news is that this Lossless audio is available at no additional cost to Spotify Premium users. Users who have subscribed will receive notifications when the audio is available on their accounts.
"The wait is finally over, we are very happy that lossless votes will be coming soon for Premium customers," said VP Langganan Spotify Gustav Gyllenhammar. "We have taken the time to develop this feature by prioritizing quality."
Lossless audio features can be accessed on various devices that support Spotify playback. These include mobile devices, desktops, and tablets. Third-party devices that support Spotify Connect can also enjoy this audio quality.
Support for Spotify Connect is a distinct advantage. Many Hi-Fi audio products are compatible with this feature, including Sony, Bose, Samsung, and others. Support for Sonos and Amazon will follow in the coming weeks.

To get a maximum Lossless experience, there are several things to note. Spotify recommends users to stream via a Wi-Fi network. The use of wired headphones or speakers is also highly recommended.
This is because Bluetooth bandwidth limitations will compress audio signals. Users will not get full Lossless quality if they use a regular wireless connection.
How to activate this feature is quite easy. Users only need to enter Settings and Privacy, then select the Quality Media menu and activate Lossless for Wi-Fi, Cellular, and Download networks. Later, the Lossless indicator will appear in the view of the song being played.
