Heavy Rain Triggers Landslides And Floods In Banyumas, A Number Of Roads Closed Materials

PURWOKERTO - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Banyumas Regency, Central Java (Central Java) said heavy rains that flushed Banyumas Regency from Wednesday 10 September to 11 September morning triggered a number of natural disasters in the form of landslides and floods.

"Based on monitoring from the Ronwasna application (Disaster Alert Mother), there are several areas that have been affected by disasters due to extreme weather," said Acting Head of BPBD Banyumas Regency Budi Nugroho, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 11.

He said several affected locations include Gumelar District, where there are two landslide points, namely in Paningkaban Village RT 03 RW 01 closing access to the Ajibarang-Lumbir road and in Kedungurang Village RT 05 RW 01.

Furthermore, he said, Rawalo District had landslides in Tambaknegara Village which closed the access road to Rawalo-Patikaraja and landslides in Sidamulih Village, RT 02 RW 07, which knocked down the Sungkalan River Bridge.

The landslide in Tambaknegara occurred at around 04.00 WIB. The cliff on the side of the road collapsed carrying soil material, pine trees, and teak that hit a passing sedan, "he said who is also the Head of the Banyumas Regency Communication and Information Office (Dinkominfo).

He said the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries.

According to him, BPBD officers together with the Fire Department, Rawalo Police, and local residents immediately carried out rapid assessments and emergency handling operations using chainsaws, ropes, and other cutting tools to clean trees that blocked roads.

The road can be passed again after the evacuation of cars and trees has been completed. However, soil material is still piling up at the location, while the public street lighting pole (LPJU) appears to be tilted towards the road and a number of power lines are hit by trees," he said.

His party has coordinated with the Public Works, Perhutani, Transportation Service, and PLN for further handling.

He said other disaster points were in Kebasen District in the form of overflow floods due to the breakdown of the Perwaton River embankment in Sawangan Village and landslides in Kalisalak Village which blocked road access.

According to him, landslides also occurred in Karangmangu Village, RT 01 RW 05, Purwojati District, which closed the Karangmangu-Tipar road access.

In addition, he said, in Cilongok District there was a landslide in Gununglurah Village RT 06 RW 03 and RT 02 RW 05, as well as Cipete Village RT 02 RW 03.

Longsor also occurred in Banjaranyar Village RT 03 RW 02, Pekuncen District. Meanwhile, in Krarandom Village, Ajibarang District, there was an overflow of the Tajum River to inundate the road," he said.

In addition to landslides and floods, he said, the incident of fallen trees was reported in Plana Village, Somagede District; Kedungwringin Village, Patikraja District; and Tanjung Village, South Purwokerto District
