Israel Attacks Yemeni Capital, Targets Houthi Military Camp

JAKARTA - Israel attacked the capital Yemen, Sanaa, and northern provinces of al-Jawf on Wednesday. The Houthi media reported the attack killed and injured several people.

The attack is the latest in more than a year of attacks and counter-attacks between Israel and the Houthi militants in Yemen, as part of the impact of the war on Gaza.

The Israeli military said it attacked military camps, the headquarters of the Houthi military's "propaganda" department, and fuel storage sites on Wednesday, September 10.

Sanata residents told Reuters the attack was aimed at a hiding place between the two mountains used as command and control headquarters. The extent of the damage is not yet known.

Israeli attacks also targeted the Houthi Ministry of Defense, witnesses said.

The attack comes days after an August 30 attack on Sanaa that killed the Houthi-led government prime minister and several ministers, in the first attack targeting senior officials.

"The attack was carried out in response to an attack led by the Houthi terror regime against the State of Israel, in which unmanned aerial vehicles and surface-to-surface missiles were launched into Israeli territory," the Israeli military said.

The Houthis in partnership with Iran attacked ships in the Red Sea as an act of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

They have also fired missiles at Israel, most of which have been intercepted. Israel has responded with attacks on Yemeni territory controlled by the Houthis, including the vital port of Hodeidah.
