PB Djarum Audition Attended By 1,729 Badminton Players

JAKARTA Sports service Djarum Foundation and PB Djarum again held a public audition for the 2025 edition. A total of 1,729 badminton players were present as participants in the most prestigious talent search event.

The event, which was held as an effort to maintain and continue the baton of Indonesia's badminton glory, took place from September 8 to 12, 2025 at GOR Djarum Jati, Kudus, Central Java.

The Djarum Foundation Sports Service Director Program who is also the Chair of PB Djarum, Yoppy Rosimin, said that public auditions are the main pillar of their long-term commitment to ensure the regeneration of Indonesian badminton athletes continues.

"Every year we open the door as wide as possible for young badminton players throughout the country who have big dreams. We are ready to forge them to become badminton heroes in the future," said Yoppy.

Two elements of innovation that were previously implemented last year will be used again in public auditions this year. The two elements in question are the age group and screening stage.

The two breakthroughs are still very relevant for the participants to give all their abilities throughout the selection series because they will definitely meet opponents according to age.

Head of the PB Djarum 2025 Public Audit Talent Search Team, Sigit Budiarto, said that this system allows the talent search team to be more thorough in accordance with the established criteria.

"The screening system at the beginning was also very effective. We are not only looking for superior seeds that have technical talent, but also those who have enthusiasm, tireless fighting power, strong character, and super quality athletes," he said.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Men's Athlete Talent Finding Team as well as the Manager of the PB Djarum Team, Fung Permadi, believes that competition in the men's sector is now increasingly demanding physical perfection and speed.

Therefore, his team is looking for athletes who not only have good basic techniques, but also qualified body posture and physical foundations. He and his team will observe in detail every movement and potential strength of the participants during the audition.

"Our job is not only to see who wins or loses, but how they play. Smart athletes on the field will be able to develop their game more quickly," said Fung.

Furthermore, the Coordinator of the Women's Athlete Talent Finding Team, Yuni Kartika, said that in this year's PB Djarum General Audition, the main criterion targeted for the women's sector was the ideal posture.

According to the Uber Cup 1994 winner, physical factors are very important so that athletes are able to compete at the international level. The reason is, currently many opponents from abroad have advantages in this aspect.

"If his abilities are classified as standard, then we continue to prioritize posture factors, especially height or potential to grow high. Other aspects that are taken into consideration include talent, mentality, and hospitality in reading matches," said Yuni.

The selection series for PB Djarum 2025 begins with the screening phase which adopts a match with a knockout system of one game up to 21st points (without deduction/setting).

Next, the selection enters the tournament stage. Here, super tickets for the men's category are given to semifinalists and women's super categories tickets that pass to the quarantine stage are finalists in the tournament round.

The quarantine stage will be held for four weeks (September 13 to October 11, 2025) with two elimination phases. Those who pass the quarantine stage will receive a Badminton Scholarship Djarum and join PB Djarum.
