Burning Attacks In Berlin Make 50 Thousand Houses Extinguished

JAKARTA - About 50,000 households in Berlin experienced a power outage on Tuesday following the alleged burning of two power poles in the southeastern district of the German capital.

Reported by Reuters on Tuesday, September 9, police spokesman Anja Dierschke said political motives cannot be ruled out. The special Division tasked with solving political-motivated crimes is leading the investigation.

The Berlin newspaper, Tagesspiegel, quoted an anonymous source as saying police were investigating whether the attack was linked to Tesla's announcement that it plans to build a development center in the Treptow-Koepenick district, the site of the alleged arson.

According to the report, police saw similarities with the electric tower burning attack in 2024 by a left-wing militant group calling itself the "volcano group that stopped Tesla" which stopped production for days at the automaker's factory outside Berlin.

When asked about the report, Dierschke said there may be a link between the attack and Tesla's announcement could not be ruled out.

Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Authorities in Berlin have blamed a number of arson attacks in the city since 2011 on similar left-wing groups.
