Bill On Confiscation Of Assets Proposes By DPR, Menkum: Prabowo Has Met With Political Party Chairmans
JAKARTA - Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas said the Draft Law (RUU) on Asset Confiscation was proposed by the DPR to be a priority in 2025, after President Prabowo Subianto met with general chairmen (ketum) political parties.
According to him, the Asset Confiscation Bill which will soon be discussed in the DPR RI indicates that a political decision has been taken. Even so, he said the Asset Confiscation Bill would be an initiative proposal from the DPR.
"The important thing is that the political decision today through the Chairman (Legalislation Agency) and friends in Baleg is clear, this year the Asset Confiscation Law has entered in 2025," Supratman said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 9.
With the proposed Asset Confiscation Bill as a priority bill, according to him, communication between high-ranking political parties has been carried out properly. The government, he said, would continue to communicate with the legislative body.
"The government is just waiting for the results of the preparation, then the President will send a presidential decree," he said.
On the other hand, he revealed that the government previously had a draft Asset Confiscation Bill. Although later the DPR will propose, according to him, the government will also distribute drafts prepared by the government if needed as a reference for the DPR.
"Anyway, the President's commitment together with the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia is to resolve the law as soon as possible," he said.
Previously, the DPR Baleg suggested that the Bill on Asset Confiscation be included in the Priority Prolegnas to be discussed in 2025.
