Coordinating Minister Yusril Dialogue With Delpedro Marhaen At The Polda Metro Detention Center
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra had a long dialogue with young activists as well as Lokataru Foundation Executive Director Delpedro Marhaen who was detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center, Jakarta.
In a dialogue with Delpedro during a visit to the detention center, Tuesday, Yusril admitted that he wanted to ensure that the investigation process related to the Delpedro case and other activists was fair.
"Don't reduce any of your rights. Our job is to maintain that," said Yusril as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 9.
However, he emphasized that if there are citizens who are guilty, the government will take legal steps.
Yusril said that this also applies the other way around. If there are officers who are guilty, the government will also take legal action so that all processes are fair.
Known for vocals for voicing issues of democracy and human rights, Delpedro has now been named a suspect on suspicion of spreading incitement through social media that occurred on August 25 during a demonstration in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building, around Jalan Gelora, Tanah Abang, and a number of other areas of Jakarta.
Responding to the statement of Coordinating Minister Yusril, Delpedro stated that he was innocent, but was ready to face the legal process and cooperated with the examination.
