Afternoon: Wife Of The Future Becomes Indonesia's Representative At Oscar 2026
JAKARTA - The film Sore: The wife of the future will be Indonesia's representative for the 2026 Oscar. This good news was shared by Cerita Films as the production house for the film.
"The film Afternoon: The wife of the Future was chosen to be the representative of Indonesian Film for Best International Feature Film Oscar 2026," reads the description of the upload on Tuesday, September 9.
"We are touched and grateful. Thank you to the Indonesian Oscar Selection Committee for choosing the film Sore as Indonesia's representative at the Academy Award," he said.
They also asked the public to provide support on their journey to promote director Yandy Laurens' film.
Indonesia has actively proposed films for the Best International Feature Film category (Best International Feature Film) at the Oscar event since 1987, but not a single Indonesian film has passed the selection stage.

Several Asian countries that have proposed for this year's event are Kokuho from Japan, Magellan from the Philippines, No Other Choice from South Korea, A Useful Ghost from Thailand, and others.
In the previous year, director Jeremias Nyangoen's film Women from Rote Island represented the 97th Oscar.
Sore: The wife of the Future tells the story of Sore (Sheila Dara Aisha) who comes into Jonathan's life (Dion Wiyoko) and claims to be the wife of her future.
This film scored 3 million viewers during its broadcast in Indonesia and is currently airing on the Malaysian Charter.
