DKI DPRD Calls The Reduction Of Their Housing Allowances Determined By The Governor-Ministry Of Finance

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco admitted that his party could not decide for itself the nominal reduction in housing allowances for council members.

This was revealed by Baco when answering the certainty of decreasing housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members, which was urged by residents some time ago.

"In principle, the Council has agreed to or is ready to evaluate the allowance and will coordinate with the governor and the Ministry of Home Affairs," Baco told reporters, Tuesday, September 9.

Baco said there were a number of stages before finally the reduction in the amount of housing allowances for DKI DPRD members was realized. In fact, Baco claimed that the amount was determined by DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to the Ministry of Finance.

"It can't be alone, all the allowances that the council can get are not the council, but the ones that determine are the government, governor and the Ministry of Finance," said Baco.

In fact, Baco admitted that until now the DKI DPRD has not decided how much the nominal housing allowance will be lowered.

"The point is we agree first that it is ready to be evaluated. However, caution is needed. It is impossible to rush, it can't be rushed. If you hurry, you will be wrong again," he said.

Previously, a group of people calling themselves the Democracy Social Care Student Alliance held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Thursday, September 4.

After the DPR RI was demonstrated regarding the increase in housing allowances for Senayan MPs, now the DKI Jakarta DPRD is in the spotlight with similar issues.

The action, which lasted about an hour, attracted the attention of the council members. A number of representatives of the mass action were then invited to an audience.

During the meeting, representatives of the alliance objected to the amount of housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members which were considered too high and not comparable to the economic conditions of the community.

Responding to this, Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Basri Baco admitted that members of the council from all factions agreed to comply with the demands.

"We are ready to evaluate the housing allowance according to the current conditions and situation and in accordance with applicable regulations," said Baco at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Thursday, September 4.

The amount of housing allowance for the leadership and members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is contained in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 415 of 2022. This gubernatorial decree was signed by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

In Kepgub 415/2022, it is stipulated that the housing allowance for the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is IDR 78.8 million per month, including taxes. Meanwhile, the housing allowance for DKI Jakarta DPRD members is IDR 70.4 million, including taxes every month.
