Minister Of Finance Purbaya Reveals No Directives Regarding The Establishment Of A State Revenue Agency

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Purbaya Yudhi Sadivewa as Minister of Finance replacing Sri Mulyani Indrawati, on Monday, September 8.

Purbaya conveyed, related to the plan to form a State Revenue Agency (BPN), there has been no direct direction from President Prabowo.

"Nothing yet. I don't think I like it. I asked, sir, how about it, sir? (Asking Purabaya to the President) Can I break it down? I don't know because I'm new, can that be a code or not?," he said demonstrating President Prabowo's movement with his hands moving forward, Monday, September 8.

Furthermore, Purbaya explained, in most countries, the state revenue system remains under the auspices of the finance ministry and emphasized that he would still respect the existing system, instead of carrying out a massive overhaul.

"If we make us alone, it will be strange again. So we will optimize the existing system," he continued.

He said the weakness of new leaders is usually to dismantle old systems and then create new ones in order to leave their own milestones.

"I won't be like that, the approach, I have the approach, I optimize it so that the system can work optimally, we will stop optimizing it, we will speed it up again," he added.

Purbaya added that things that had stopped would be optimized, while those that had been running would be accelerated.

He emphasized that this is not about changing machines, but perfecting old machines so they can work more optimally.

"So everything is not a new engine, it's an old machine but we make it even better in the future. These are all smart people here," he said.
