Aziz Wellang's Confession, Who Played Domino With 2 Prabowo Ministers, Denies Being A Suspect Of Illegal Logging

Aziz Wellang was highlighted because he was involved in a illegal logging case in the form of cutting wood outside the forest concession permit in Katingan Regency, Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) in November 2024.

At that time, the Directorate General of Law Enforcement (Gakkum) of the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut), which at that time was still named the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), named Aziz Welang as a suspect along with other parties through PT ABL and its contractor PT GPB.

In this regard, Aziz Wellang made a confession to the public. He emphasized that the status of the suspect assigned to him was not true because the Central Jakarta District Court had granted the pretrial and stopped the investigation on February 14, 2025.

Launching VOI, Aziz Wellang emphasized that the news that said he was still a suspect in illegal logging was not true, misleading, and had no legal basis.

Aziz denied that he was a suspect, because based on the pretrial decision at the Central Jakarta District Court Number 13/Pid.Pra/2023/PN.Jkt.Pst, his legal status has been terminated.

Not only that, Aziz also claimed that the Ministry of Environment and Forestry had stopped handling the case. As evidence, he included a Notice of Termination of Investigation on behalf of Muhammad Aziz Wellang Number S.01/BPPKLHK-IV.SWI/PPNS/02/2025 dated February 14, 2025.

"That the determination of the suspect by the KLHK Law Enforcement investigator has been declared invalid according to Huku," reads the pretrial decision he quoted.

In his clarification, Aziz emphasized that the legal facts should have been known to the public for a long time.

"This legal fact should have been known beforehand," said Aziz.

Aziz also admitted that he was harmed by the national media reports which according to him did not match the facts. This has an impact on the good name of him and his family.

"That the news in question has spread widely and has gone viral on various platforms, so that it has a negative impact on the good name of me and my family," said Aziz.

He then mentioned a number of legal grounds, such as the Press Law Number 40 of 1999, Articles 310 and 311 of the Criminal Code related to defamation, as well as the ITE Law Number 11 of 2008. He demanded accountability from the media that broadcast the news.

Regarding the photo of himself playing dominoes with two Prabowo Ministers, Aziz emphasized that his presence at that moment had no other agenda. He admitted that he was just playing dominoes with the Deputy Chairperson of the National Board of the Indonesian Domino Sports Association, namely Andi Rukman Nurdin Karumpa.

On the other hand, the Minister of Transportation Raja Juli Antoni also made a clarification. He said he was invited by the Minister of P2MI Abdul Kadir Karding to come to the South Sulawesi Family Harmony Post (KKS), where Karding served as Secretary General.

"I discussed with Minister Karding alone in the back room for more than 2 hours. There was no theme of our discussion regarding the illegal logging case at all. Near 24.00 I said goodbye to him," said Raja Juli in his clarification.

When he was about to go home, Raja Juli passed through the living room with quite a lot of people. Some of them were playing dominoes. King Juli and Karding were invited to participate in the game.

"After 2 rounds, I said goodbye to Minister Karding and many people in the living room," said Raja Juli.

Raja Juli claimed that while playing dominoes, he claimed he did not know the other two players. There was also no talk about any cases at the time.

"After this news circulated, I just found out that one of the people who took part in the game was Azis Wellang, who was reported as a wild logging player," he said.
