Hotel Sultan Kembali Sues Government, Land Dispute GBK Becomes The President's Spotlight
JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid said the Sultan Hotel had again filed a lawsuit against the government regarding land disputes in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Jakarta.
In a joint working meeting with Commission II of the DPR RI in Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 8, Nusron said that this case was a special concern of President Prabowo Subianto.
"The latest development at this time PT Indobuildco has again filed a civil lawsuit," said Nusron.
According to Nusron, the lawsuit filed by PT Indobuildco, the manager of the Sultan Hotel, against a number of parties, namely the Minister of State Secretary, the Bung Karno Gelora Complex Management Center (PPKGBK), the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, the Minister of Finance, and the Head of the Central Jakarta City Administration Land Office.
The lawsuit is registered with Number 208/Pdt.G/2025/PN.Jkt.Pst and is now entering the witness examination stage.
He explained that this lawsuit targets the issuance of the Head of BPN Decree Number 169/HPL/BPN 89 dated August 15, 1989, regarding the granting of Land Management Rights (HPL) on behalf of the Indonesian State Secretariat Cq. Senayan Sports Center Management Agency.
Previously, the Ministry of State Secretariat had sent summons since the end of 2024 to ask the Sultan Hotel manager to vacate the building.
"There has been a subpoena from the State Secretariat to there (The Sultan's Hotel). Usually, when it's subpoena, it will be executed soon if it's not heeded," said Nusron in March 2025.

This case stems from the government's plan to execute the court's decision on HPL No. 169/HPL/BPN/89 related to Block 15 of the GBK area with a land area of 2,664,210 square meters.
With this decision, the land returns to the state's lap, while Building Use Rights (HGB) No. 26/Gelora and HGB No. 27/Gelora which expires in early 2023 cannot be extended.
