A Peaceful Transit, a Comfortable Return: Minister Karding Visits the Indonesian Red Cross Lounge in Semarang
JAKARTA - The Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), Abdul Kadir Karding, inspected the Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) Lounge at General Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang, Central Java, last Sunday.
The presence of this dedicated lounge is part of the government's commitment to providing better service and comfort for migrant workers, especially during transit and rest periods before and after international flights.
"Thank you to the president for reopening international flights. This is very strategic, as Malaysia and a number of other destination countries have begun reopening. This lounge can be used for rest or transit by our migrant workers," said Minister Karding in a KemenP2MI press release on Monday, September 8.
The PMI Lounge at Ahmad Yani Airport is a collaboration between the Ministry of P2MI and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, initiated in June 2025. This facility features a comfortable waiting room, information services, and technical support for Indonesian migrant workers who have recently returned or are departing for their destination countries.
"We want to ensure that Indonesian migrant workers receive the best possible service from the moment they leave their homeland. This lounge is a concrete example of the state's presence to provide comfort and protection," added Karding.
