Fatmawati Food Court Fire: Fire Allegedly From Freezer, Losses Reaches IDR 1.2 Billion

The South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) said the fire losses that hit the hawker center (food court) on Jalan Fatmawati Raya Hospital No.25, RT.1/RW.6, South Gandaria, Cilandak, reached Rp 1.2 billion.

"The loss tax reached Rp1.2 billion," said Head of the South Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Syamsul Huda, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 8.

According to him, the burned area was 1,000 square meters, while the cause of the fire was suspected to be due to an electrical problem in the local area, with McD Fatmawati being known.

From the fire, he reported no casualties, but one person was injured.

"One person was injured by broken glass and has been handled by PMI," said Syamsul.

Furthermore, he said that on Sunday night, an online motorcycle taxi driver named Yanto saw the fire first emerge from the cooler at one of the chicken steak food outlets.

Not long after, an explosion occurred, and the fire immediately grabbed other outlets and a nearby workshop.

"Pak Yanto tried to extinguish the fire which continued to grow, then reported it to Gulkarmat, South Jakarta, and we immediately launched the closest unit from the crime scene," said Syamsul.

A total of 71 South Jakarta Gulkarmat personnel were deployed to extinguish the fire, and are currently in cooling status since 02.50 WIB.
