Apple Will Improve Siri Web Search Capability With Gemini Support

JAKARTA Apple will launch an updated Siri. One of the features expected to be present in the virtual assistant is the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based web search capability.

Launching from Bloomberg, Siri with these capabilities will be supported by the Apple Foundation Models running a contextual intent application system. These models will handle personal data directly from within the device.

Reportedly, partnerships between Apple and third parties like Google will continue in this upgrade. In fact, Google is reported to have provided a working version of Gemini on Apple's Private Cloud Compute.

A new, more sophisticated Siri will consist of three main components, namely planners, search operators, and compared ones. The Apple Foundation Models will act as a planner and search operator, while taking and finalizing web data will be handled by Google.

With the emergence of this report, Apple will certainly not leave its internal AI model. The tech company appears to be making a collaborative approach by combining Apple models on third-party devices and models through Private Cloud Compute.

This is similar to how Google Search works on iPhones and Siri. Currently, Google is a default search engine on Safari as well as a search engine used by Siri, but users can still change it.

The upgrade to Apple Intelligence appears to be adopting a similar approach. The AI system on the device will be responsible for disentangling commands and personal data. When Siri needs additional resources, he will call the AI agent from Gemini.

This system is different from Apple's partnership and ChatGPT. When the query is forwarded to ChatGPT, it runs on OpenAI servers. However, with Google Gemini, the query will run on Apple-controlled Private Cloud Compute servers.

It is not certain when this partnership will be officially disclosed, but it will most likely not be announced this year. We still have to wait for an official announcement from Apple regarding Siri's new features with Apple Intelligence support.
