It's The Turn Of The DKI Jakarta DPRD Building To Be Demonstrated, Demanding That The Housing Allowance Of Council Members Be Reduced

JAKARTA - A group of people on behalf of the Democracy Social Care Student Alliance held a demonstration in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD building. After the DPR RI building was demonstrated due to the increase in housing allowances for Senayan MPs, now the mass of action is also highlighting the housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members.

The action lasted for about an hour immediately attracted the attention of members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD. A number of representatives of the action participants were invited to enter the DKI Jakarta DPRD building for an audience.

In its hearing, representatives of the alliance, Muhammad Ihsan, revealed that his party highlighted the housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members which were considered too large and not commensurate with the economic difficulties that the community was experiencing.

"Regarding transparency and accountability for issues that are now rife, what was conveyed yesterday by friends, namely housing allowances. It needs to be reviewed in our opinion, because maybe it is too big," said Ihsan at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Thursday, September 4.

Currently, the housing allowance received by the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is IDR 78.8 million per month, then the DKI Jakarta DPRD members are IDR 70.4 million each month. Ihsan demanded that the amount of this housing allowance be reduced.

"Seeing the situation and economic conditions that are not inversely proportional to the current representatives of the people, if possible, maybe not removed, but reduced," said Ihsan.

In addition, Ihsan revealed that the alliance also asked the DKI Jakarta DPRD to improve its supervisory function by auditing a number of regional-owned enterprises (BUMD) which were deemed not optimal in carrying out their duties.

It is known that housing allowances for DPR RI members who have experienced an increase have been in the spotlight to public criticism in recent times. Finally, the DPR stopped the member housing allowance as of August 30.

Before the housing allowance for Senayan parliament members was stopped, the Secretary General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indra Iskandar, revealed that the amount of housing allowances of IDR 50 million per month was determined based on a study by looking at housing allowances which were also received by 106 members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD every month.

The amount of housing allowance for the leadership and members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is contained in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 415 of 2022. This gubernatorial decree was signed by former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

In Kepgub 415/2022, it is stipulated that the housing allowance for the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD is IDR 78.8 million per month, including taxes. Meanwhile, the housing allowance for DKI Jakarta DPRD members is IDR 70.4 million, including taxes every month.

The amount of housing allowances for DKI Jakarta DPRD members has increased since 2022. Previously, the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD received an allowance of Rp. 70 million per month, while DKI DPRD members amounted to Rp. 60 million per month including taxes. This value is stipulated in DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 153 of 2017 concerning DPRD Expenditures signed by former DKI Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
