Provocateurs Of Action In Tulungagung Arrested By Police, Have Stayed 3 Days At Hotels And Student Status

TULUNGAGUNG The intelligence team of the Tulungagung Resort Police, East Java, arrested two youths suspected of trying to provoke residents to carry out anarchic actions ahead of the demonstration which was planned to be held on Thursday today.

Tulungagung Police Chief AKBP Taat Resdi said the first perpetrator had the initials CK (27), a resident of Klaten, Central Java. He was arrested while at a hotel in Tulungagung on Wednesday night.

CK, who is a student of one of the campuses in Kediri City, is known to have been in Tulungagung for three days. From the results of the examination, CK had invited a number of residents at the coffee shop to carry out anarchic actions during the demonstration.

"The person concerned was also involved in the attack on the Kediri City Police Headquarters by throwing two Molotov cocktails," said Taat in Tulungagung, Antara, Thursday, September 4.

The evidence that was secured from CK included a motorcycle, a spare bag, and a cell phone containing conversations related to the planned attack in Kediri and Tulungagung.

From the development of the case, the police together with the Kediri Police arrested another perpetrator with the initials MS (24), a resident of East Jakarta who was boarding in Kediri. MS allegedly played a role in turning on the Molotov cocktail that CK threw.

During the arrest of MS, the police confiscated four fireworks and a mobile phone unit containing conversations related to the riot plan in Tulungagung.

The police chief added that the arrests of the two suspected provocateurs made the demonstration in Tulungagung postponed until the situation was considered conducive.

"The action coordinator can understand the reason for the cancellation," said Taat.

This arrest is considered a strategic step by the authorities to prevent potential riots that could disrupt security in Tulungagung and its surroundings.
