BEM SI GelaR Demo This Afternoon In The DPR
JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) plans to hold a demonstration in the DPR Building area, Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta on Thursday, September 4.
BEM SI's demonstration titled "PEACEFUL ACTION #SELamaKINDONESIA" is planned to be held at 13.00 WIB.
"People's unrest is not because of actions on the streets, but because of corruption, politicized laws, twisted history, and state policies that ignore the people. Saving Indonesia is not only the duty of the government, but a shared responsibility," wrote BEM SI in his Instagram account, @bem_si.
BEM SI invites the public and students to participate in this demonstration. According to them, all components of society must unite to maintain unity and integrity for the benefit of the people.
"The people must unite, maintain unity, and remain loud in voice. The future of the nation is the right of all people, not a handful of elites," the account wrote.

Separately, the Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra ensured that the government would respond positively to 17+8 of the People's Demands summarized after demonstrations in Jakarta and various regions until the end of last August.
"As the demands of the people, the government that has the mandate of the people will certainly respond positively to the demands and desires of its people. It is impossible for the government to ignore these demands," said Yusril when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday, September 4.
For his duties related to law and human rights, Yusril ensures that the government enforces and carries out the law fairly, transparently, and upholds human rights.
As directed by President Prabowo Subianto, he said, the authorities have been asked to take firm legal steps that apply to anyone who violates the law.
It is said that people who carry out demonstrations or demonstrations will not be disturbed by anyone because demonstrations are the people's right to express opinions and aspirations.
However, he emphasized that those who were dealt with firmly were those who violated the law, burned, destroyed, looted, and incited others to commit crimes.
Nevertheless, the Coordinating Minister emphasized that those suspected of violating the law, their various human rights were protected, with transparent law enforcement.
"They must undergo an examination according to the procedural law, have the right to be accompanied by a legal advisor, and have the right to be treated by prioritizing the principle of presumption of innocence," said Yusril.
