Police Cyber Patrol, Hunt For Other Social Media Accounts That Spread Provocations For Riots

The National Police will continue to carry out cyber patrols to find social media accounts involved in disclosing provocative content related to riots in a number of areas.

So far, the National Police have named seven suspects. Some of them even invited the public to carry out looting.

"We are still doing cyber palolu to see if there are other accounts that are still provoking, who are also other accounts related to what we have arrested or what has not been taken," said the Director of Cyber Crime at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Himawan Bayu Aji, quoted by Kamsi, September 4.

So far, the National Police together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) have blocked 592 provocative accounts and content in the period 28 to 31 August 2025.

"We are collaborating with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to block accounts and content, which to date a total of 592 accounts and content have been recorded," he said.

Not only that, the National Police will also explore or investigate the alleged flow of online gambling funds used as gifts to account owners who broadcast live or live during riots.

It is undeniable that many parties live on TikTok social media accounts during the demonstration that led to chaos. They benefit from the gimmick feature.

"You are also working with Komdigi, then later it will deepen to prove that this gift is (a flow of funds) whether there is gambling or not," said Himawan.

Meanwhile, one of the seven people named as suspects had the initials IS (39). He spread the content of the invitation to be provocative through the TikTok account @hs02775.

In the content he uploaded, the suspect incited the public to loot several members of the DPR, namely, Ahmad Sahroni, Eko Hendro Purnomo alias Eko Patrio, Surya Utama alias Uya Kuya, and Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Puan Maharani.

"The modus operandi of the suspect's actions is to create and stimulate video content through his TikTok social media accounts with the aim of creating hatred for individuals, groups, certain communities based on nationality inciting or provoking an action period for a sense of looting," he said.

However, it was not conveyed in detail about the contents or sentences of the suspect's content which were deemed to contain elements of provocation. So far, it has only been said that the suspect was arrested on Monday, September 1.

Meanwhile, for the other six suspects, namely, WH (31) who is the owner of the Instagram account @bekasi_menggut; KA (24), with the Instagram account of the Plaintiff Student Alliance; LFK (26) with the @larasfaizati account.

Then, the husband and wife couple namely SB (35) and G (20) who are the owners of the Facebook accounts Nannu and Bambu Runcing; and CS (30) with the TikTok account @cepmunich.
