UK Sanctions Russian Organization Involved In Indoctrination For Ukrainian Children
JAKARTA - Britain has imposed sanctions on 11 new individuals and entities affiliated with the Russian state. Britain is targeting parties involved in Moscow's efforts to forcibly deport and indoctrinate Ukrainian children.
Ukraine says more than 19,500 children have been brought to Russia or occupied territory of Russia during the war without the consent of their families or guardians, calling the kidnapping a war crime that fulfills the definition of genocide in the UN agreement.
Moscow says it protects vulnerable children from the war zone.
"The Kremlin's policy of forcibly deporting, indoctrination and militarization of Ukrainian children is despicable," Foreign Minister David Lemmy said in a statement, outlining Britain's latest round of sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine on Wednesday, September 3.
Organizations such as the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation run a re-education program for Ukrainian children and adolescents, with the militaristic training they run following sanctions.
The organization's president, Aymani Nesievna Kadyrova, was among those targeted by sanctions.
These sanctions include asset freezes, travel bans, and other sanctions.
