SPHP Rice Repackaging Case In Jambi, Police Investigate Bulog Distribution Mechanism

JAKARTA - The Jambi Police are examining witnesses in the case of alleged repackage of rice supply stability and food prices (SPHP) into plain packaging which was then resold for profit.

"Until now, investigators have continued to complete their case files by examining several witnesses, suspects, and other related parties," said Panit Sub-Directorate I Indagsi of the Jambi Police Ditreskrimsus AKP F Gultom in Jambi on Wednesday, confiscated by Antara.

He revealed that the police investigation team had examined a number of witnesses, including from civil society and then the head of the local RT, as well as shop owners where SPHP rice was found which was repackaged.

Then an examination was also carried out on representatives from Bulog Jambi Province to explore information regarding the mechanism for distributing SPHP rice from Bulog through RPK (Our Food House) to the community.

"We have also rebalanced with the Metrology Service to determine for sure the amount of rice transferred from the SPHP package to plain packaging," said F Gultom.

In the near future, a re-examination of consumer protection experts from the Ministry of Trade will be carried out to strengthen the legal aspect of this case. The examination is scheduled to take place next week.

Although there has been no significant progress that can be announced to the public, the Jambi regional police will continue to explore every statement given by the suspect in the investigation report (BAP).

"We are still investigating and exploring what the suspect said. We will continue this process until the case file is ready to be transferred to the Public Prosecutor (JPU) for phase one," said AKP F Gultom.
