BEM Nusantara Asks DPR Leaders To Facilitate Dialogue With Minister Prabowo

JAKARTA - The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Archipelago asked the leadership of the DPR to facilitate dialogue between students and the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet of President Prabowo Subianto's Government.

The reason is, there are a number of demands that want to be submitted to presidential assistants regarding policies taken that trigger the anger of the people which led to demonstrations on August 25-31.

Representatives of BEM Nusantara said, on September 1, their organization carried out simultaneous actions in the regions to convey the aspirations of the community.

"We need to ask the leadership today, which one is higher in rank to the president or vice president? The governor or deputy governor? Which rank is higher in rank for the people or representatives of the people," said the representative of BEM Nusantara.

He also conveyed a number of aspirations for the demands to the leadership of the DPR.

First, related to the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill. The second is a thorough evaluation of members of the DPR and asking the top leadership of political parties in the DPR to impose strict sanctions on members of the DPR which trigger people's anger. Third, prioritize teacher welfare.

"Today the president exists because he is a teacher, so give welfare to teachers and create equitable equal access," he said.

BEM Nusantara also demanded the leadership of the DPR to encourage the settlement of cases of past human rights violations. He also asked the leadership of the DPR to facilitate and bridge the dialogue between students and ministers and evaluated by President Prabowo.

"We ask the leadership today, yesterday we carried out the action called critical Indonesia, so in fact we embraced all institutions and asked the leadership to hold a dialogue room with the ministers," he said.

"We ask for an evaluation of the Prabowo-Gibran minister as a whole and to realize social justice for all Indonesian people," he added.

Finally, BEM Nusantara urged the National Police to release students and other mass actions detained in a demonstration a week ago.

"And students who are still being held, we ask the leadership to release our friends. Because conveying aspirations is legal according to the law," he concluded.

For information, the DPR leadership received a number of student representatives from 16 student organizations for dialogue and accepted the aspirations conveyed related to the demonstration which was held on August 25-31, 2025.

The student representatives were received by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal and Saan Mustopa at the Nusantara building, the DPR/MPR complex.

Student representatives who attended included GMNI, GMKI, KAMMI, HMI, BEM SI Kerakyatan, BEM SI Rakyat Bangkit, BEM Nusantara, BEM PTNU Se-Nusantara, PTKIN Fever All over Indonesia, BEM PTMA Zone III, GMH, BEM UPNVJ, BEM UI, Himapolindo, Trisakti University Student Presidency, and HMI DIPO.
