President Prabowo Scheduled To Inaugurate Jayapura Hospital Mid-September

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate the Jayapura Central General Hospital (RSUP), Papua, on September 15 or 16, 2025.

This was conveyed by the Acting Governor of Papua Agus Fatoni on Wednesday, September 3.

Dalam agenda itu, Kepala Negara juga akan mengadakan pertemuan dengan para ketua bidang kesehatan dari negara-negara Pasifik di Jayapura.

"The presence of the Jayapura General Hospital is a form of central government's attention to the development of health infrastructure in Papua," he said, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the central government through the Ministry of Health had provided extraordinary support, not only for the construction of hospitals, but also for the development of Papuan human resources through scholarships.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Health continued by the Ministry of Health, dr. Azhar Jaya said the hospital's readiness had been completed 100 percent.

"Before it is inaugurated, a soft opening will be carried out so that hospitals can already serve the community," he said.

According to Azhar, currently the Jayapura Hospital is operating on a limited basis and serves more than 400 patients.

"However, the service has not been borne by BPJS. After it is inaugurated, the hospital will operate fully and enter the national health care system," he said.

He explained that the availability of medical personnel is still equipped through collaboration with the Dok II Jayapura Hospital.

"The Jayapura RSUP is not here to replace the existing hospitals, but to increase the capacity of health services, including preparing original Papuan medical personnel," he said.
