Officially Opening CHANDI 2025, Menbud Fadli Zon Delivers An Important Message On Culture For The Future
JAKARTA Indonesia officially opened an international conference on Culture, Heritage, Art, Narrative, Diplomacy, and Innovation (CHANDI) 2025 in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday, September 3. This global scale cultural forum presents representatives from 40 countries, ranging from ministers, ambassadors, high delegates, to regional leaders.
The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, emphasized that culture is not just a legacy of the past, but a unifying force. Culture is a bridge that connects us beyond borders, languages, and differences. He reminds us of humanity," said Menbud Fadli in front of the international delegation.
CHANDI 2025 carries the theme Culture for the Future, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of Indonesian Independence. This forum is designed to strengthen cultural diplomacy, respond to geopolitical challenges, climate crises, social inequality, and technological disruption. Through discussions, collaborations, and exhibitions, CHANDI emphasized culture as a solution to build peace, sustainability, and an inclusive ecosystem.
Indonesia, said Fadli, has a strategic position as a nation with mega-diversity culture: 280 million people, more than 1,340 ethnicities, 718 regional languages, and more than 2,213 cultural heritages. "The principle of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, mutual cooperation, and deliberation is the foundation of harmony as well as a real contribution to world peace," he said.
Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno added that artificial intelligence (AI) technology must be used to strengthen cultural ties, not the other way around. Indonesia encourages AI governance that preserves all languages and cultures. Bhinneka Tunggal Ika must be the foundation of a just and sustainable digital civilization," he said.
