Police Call Unnes Student Death After Demonstration Due To Traffic Accident

The police said that a student from the Semarang State University (Unnes), the late Iko Juliant Junior, died in a traffic accident on Jalan Veteran, Semarang City, Central Java, in the early hours of Sunday (31/8).

"The investigation by the Semarang Polrestabes Traffic Unit regarding the traffic accident on Jalan Veteran in the early hours of August 31," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police Kombes Artanto in Semarang, Tuesday, September 2.

From the results of the investigation, he said, the victim who was riding a motorcycle with his partner drove from West to East at around 03.05 WIB.

"The victim's motorbike was hit by another motorbike that was traveling at high speed," he said.

The victims in the accident, he said, were then helped by Brimob personnel who were on guard and then rushed to dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang.

He said the police had taken steps to investigate to uncover the case.

He invited his family to report if it was judged that there were irregularities in the incident.

Previously, an Unnes student, Iko Juliant Junior, was reported to have died after participating in a series of demonstrations held in Semarang.

The Legal Aid Center for the Alumni Association, Faculty of Law, Unnes, said that there were irregularities in the condition of the victim's death.

From the physical photo of the victim, there were bruises on the face and confessions about the victim who was beaten by officers while being treated at the hospital.

Iko Juliant died after undergoing surgery at the Kariadi Hospital in Semarang.
