Coordinating Minister Zulhas Says The Government Continues To Make Complete Improvements To The Food Sector

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said the government continues to make thorough improvements to strengthen the food sector.

The move also includes increasing the availability of new land.

This was conveyed after a coordination meeting related to the Acceleration of the Development of the Food, Energy and National Water Swasembada Area as well as discussions on issues of waste to energy and food security programs, at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office, Monday, September 1.

"The government continues to make comprehensive improvements. First, of course, food, availability of new land, continuous improvement together with local governments, with the community, so that our food will become strong," he said.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said that although Indonesia is currently experiencing a food surplus, the government wants to increase production to support the National Nutrition Food (MBG) program.

"Indeed, we have a surplus, yes, but we want to be stronger because later there will be MBG. MBG is next year 88 million, it will absorb a lot, therefore it needs thorough improvement so that our production can increase even more," he explained.

Not only food, Zulhas alluded to the increasingly urgent handling of waste. He said that currently the presidential regulation (perpres) regarding it had been completed.

"Earlier we just finished, the overall repair of the waste issue, yes, the Presidential Decree has all been completed, which is mounting and will cooperate with several groups for us to finish as soon as possible," he said.

Zulhas mengatakan, target penyelesaian regulasi perizinan diperkirakan rampung paling cepat tiga bulan ke depan, sehingga dapat segera diimplementasikan.

“Nanti akan kita selesaikan dalam 3 hingga 6 bulan ini persyaratan perizinan, sehingga nanti bisa menyelesaikan dalam tempo 1 atau 1,5 tahun,” ucapnya.

Zulhas said the target for completing licensing regulations is expected to be completed in the next three months, so that it can be implemented immediately.

"Later we will finish it in 3 to 6 months the licensing requirements, so that later we can complete them within 1 or 1.5 years," he said.
