Crystal Palace Manager Asks Club Leaders Not To Sell Guehi To Liverpool

JAKARTA - Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has pleaded with the club not to let Marc Guehi go after the Eagles captain scored a beautiful goal that helped drown Aston Villa 3-0 in the third week of the Premier League, Monday, September 1, 2025, early morning WIB, at Villa Park.

Guehi has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, but he dismissed the speculation to close his impressive performance with a fine goal in winning over Aston Villa.

Glasner didn't want Guehi's beautiful goal to be a farewell gift for Crystal Palace. He was determined to keep the England National Team player and said he had explained this to club officials over the summer.

"We have to keep Marc if we want to have a successful season. We have an agreement that if we sell Marc, we have the right replacement."

"We want to have this replacement at the start of pre-season. There is no substitute in the team, obviously there is one part of the deal that has not been fulfilled. That means we can't sell Marc."

"It's not a wish or a gift for Oliver Glasner, it's important to have a successful season."

"It's a lucrative situation, but if we want to move forward, we have to keep it. If we sell, we accept a step back," said Glasner.

Glasner also firmly rejected rumors that an agreement had been reached with Liverpool, which had submitted an official proposal for the 35 million pound art (around Rp777 billion).

"There is no agreement yet!" said Glasner.

Glasner not only didn't want to sell Guehi because it would create a hole in the defense, but also he was reluctant to lose another star.

Previously, Crystal Palace had released Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for 68 million pounds.
