Is It True That Riza Chalid Was Involved In The Riot Action? This Is What The National Police Chief Said

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo when asked about Riza Chalid's role in the chaos of mass action, including arson and looting, said that the Police moved according to the evidence collected in the field.

"Yes, of course, the National Police will move according to the evidence in the field. We will withdraw (conclusion, ed.) from the facts we get, we will look for both the perpetrators in the field, the actors, who is financing, we will find out everything," said Sigit, Monday, September 1.

So far, the National Police Chief said that several people suspected of being rioters had been arrested by the police. However, for the official number, the National Police is still recording.

"There have been quite a lot (captured, ed.), but we haven't collected them yet. Some have been arrested, but because they are still increasing, we will officially inform you later," continued Listyo Sigit.

At the same location on a separate occasion, President Prabowo Subianto called the riots marked by the burning and looting as planned events. The President also mentioned that there were elements that mobilized these actions,

"There is a group of people who seem like, what we see is planned. This comes somewhere, not from there, they want to burn, destroy, and create people's anger, attack. So this is my concern, but there is no problem. We will be firm. I am elected by the people, I have a mandate from the people, I am sworn in to carry out the Basic Law, and I will carry out it," said President Prabowo.

The President then assessed that the mass action in Makassar, which burned down the DPRD building, was not an activity to convey aspirations, which were protected by law. Prabowo considered the action as a treason act.

"Remember in South Sulawesi, four ASN, innocent people, political people victims, DPRD buildings burned. These are treason acts. This is not conveying aspirations. So, all state officials will investigate who is responsible. I suspect we have indications, and we will not hesitate. I will not hesitate to defend the people. I will face any mafias that I will face on behalf of the people," said President Prabowo.

Several ministers and members of the Red and White Cabinet on Monday compactly uploaded content containing open letters to the President. In the letter, they expressed their surprise at the people who attacked Prabowo, even though Prabowo was firm against the mafias. Riza Chalid's name was also mentioned in the letter as one of the mafias.
