PT DKI Increases Verdict Of Lawyer Ronald Tannur To 14 Years In Prison
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta High Court (PT) has increased the sentence of the lawyer convicted of Ronald Tannur, Lisa Rachmat to 14 years in prison from 11 years in prison in connection with the alleged conspiracy to give bribes to the consolidation of the Ronald Tannur case at the Surabaya District Court (PN) and the Supreme Court (MA).
Chief Judge Teguh Harianto said the Jakarta High Court Panel of Judges disagreed with the decision of the Central Jakarta District Court Judges regarding the length of the prison sentence handed down to Lisa.
"Because it is seen that it does not reflect the spirit of eradicating corruption in Indonesia which is increasingly massive and occurs in all lines, and does not cause a deterrent effect and does not cause general prevention effects," said the presiding judge as quoted from a copy of the verdict reported by ANTARA, Monday, September 1.
Meanwhile, for the fines imposed on Lisa, it is still stated that the amount is Rp. 750 million, provided that if it is not paid, it will be replaced (subsidiary) with imprisonment for 6 months.
The panel of judges at the DKI Jakarta High Court is of the opinion that the legal consideration of the Panel of Judges at the First Level in its decision against Lisa is based on the right and right reasons, and has considered it sufficient and comprehensive.
Therefore, the Chief Judge stated that his party took over the legal considerations of the First Level Panel of Judges and was taken into consideration by the law itself in deciding the case at the appeal level.
That way, Lisa remains found guilty against the law regulated in Article 6 paragraph (1) letter ajuncto Article 18 and Article 15 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended and added in Law Number 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code (KUHP).
Previously, the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Lisa to 11 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 750 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.
