JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized his commitment to defending the people and vowed not to back down in the face of the anarchic actions that have occurred in recent days.
"By Allah, I will not back down even, I am sure that the people are with me," Prabowo said when giving a press statement after visiting the victims of the demonstration at the Police Hospital, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, Monday, was confiscated by Antara.
Prabowo expressed his concern over the dozens of injured victims in the incident, both from the police and the community.
According to the President, until now there are still 17 people being treated, including a woman who suffered a fracture after her motorbike was confiscated by the rioter.
The Head of State emphasized that the right to express opinions is guaranteed by law, but must be carried out peacefully and according to the rules. "If the demonstrators are purely good, the authorities must protect them," he said.
However, Prabowo assessed that a number of actions had been infiltrated by rioters who intended to damage and burn public facilities, including the DPR building and DPRD.
"The intention is not to express opinions, the intention is to cause chaos, disrupt people's lives, destroy national development efforts," said the President.
Prabowo stated that the government would act decisively and thoroughly investigate the parties responsible for the anarchist action.
"I have no doubts about defending the people, I will face the mafias that are as strong as I can face on behalf of the people," he said.

It is known that President Prabowo at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, Jakarta, Monday, September 1, visited dozens of police officers who were injured and injured due to mass demonstrations in several areas in Jakarta last week, which led to chaos.
