KPU Calls Re-voting The North Barito Regional Head Election In Central Kalimantan Rampung

Chairman of the General Election Commission of Central Kalimantan Province (KPU Kalteng), Sastriadi said the re-voting (PSU) for the regional head election (Pilkada) of North Barito Regency had been completed.

"The process of determining the election results has been completed. Currently, the KPU is still waiting for the Constitutional Case Register Book (BRPK) from the Constitutional Court (MK) which will be submitted to the KPU," Sastriadi said in Palangka Raya, Monday, which was confiscated by Antara.

He said all stages of determining the election results in the local area had been completed according to the schedule and mechanisms stipulated in the legislation.

According to him, the BRPK is an important document that becomes a reference for the KPU to ascertain whether there is a dispute over the election results submitted to the Constitutional Court or not.

If in the BRPK there are no cases that come in, he said, then the KPU can continue the next stage with more certainty.

BRPK will be the basis for us to ensure there is no dispute over the results. If it is clear, then the next stage can run according to the rules," he said.

Regarding the inauguration of the elected regional head, Sastriadi emphasized that this is entirely the authority of the central government.

The KPU, he said, only has the task of organizing all stages of the election until the determination of the results, while the inauguration is outside the realm of authority of the election organizers.

"For the inauguration, we have not received official information. That is entirely the authority of the central government, not the KPU," he said.

He hopes that the post-election process can run smoothly, so that the local community will soon have definitive leadership capable of carrying out regional development programs on an ongoing basis.

Thus, he said, the presence of elected leaders is expected to answer people's expectations and strengthen the democratic climate in Central Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, previously at the plenary meeting the results of the recapitulation of the PSU votes for the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Barut for two pairs of candidates (paslon) with a difference of 3,411 votes, namely candidate pair number 01 Shalahuddin and Felix S Tingan won 40,400 votes or 52.20 percent and candidate pair number 02 Jimmy Carter - Inriaty Karawaheni as much as 36,989 (47.80 percent).

North Barito KPU chairman Siska Dewi Lestari said voter participation in the PSU this time reached 68.54 percent, with a total of 78,813 electoral rights users.

In addition, he said, the total number of valid votes calculated was 77,389 votes, while 1,424 votes were invalid, the total valid and invalid votes reached 78,813 people.

This election recorded a fairly good level of participation even though the North Barito region has nine sub-districts and 103 villages/kelurahan with 270 polling stations.
