Suspected Looter in Protest That Ended in Burning of West Nusa Tenggara People’s Representative Council’s Building Gets Arrested

JAKARTA - Police have arrested a suspected looter of inventory at the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) building during a demonstration that ended in arson on Saturday, August 30th.

Mataram Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Hendro Purwoko, confirmed that the police had secured one person suspected of looting.

"Only one person was arrested yesterday by the police. It was only for looting. This means we received a handover. We received the handover received by officers in the field," he said in Mataram on Monday, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that the arrest of the person, who is said to be a student, was delegated by the NTB Regional Police.

"For this reason, we have coordinated directly with the Regional Police, and it is still in process. Process means it has been accepted by the Regional Police and yesterday directly with the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit," he said.

Furthermore, the Mataram Police Chief stated that the arrest of the suspected looter is still under investigation.

"We are still (investigating) the information," he said.
