Threatening Hamas Leaders Abroad, IDF Chief Of Staff: We Will Reach Them

JAKARTA - Israeli Chief of Staff Defense Forces (IDF) Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said it would target threats "in all arenas", following the assassination of Houthis high-ranking officials and Hamas spokeswoman in joint IDF and Shin Bet operations.

"IDF acts offensively, with initiatives and operational excellence in all arenas and at all times," Lieutenant General Zamir said in a situational assessment of North Command, which reviews intelligence and discusses operational plans for the continuation of the Gaza campaign, according to an IDF statement, quoted from The Times of Israel September 1.

The attack on Hamas Hudayfa spokesman Samir Abdallah al-Kahhow, better known as Abu Obeida, "joined a series of significant IDF attacks in Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, and other arenas," Lieutenant General Zamir continued, saying this was "not the end."

"Most of the remaining Hamas leaders are overseas, and we will also reach them," he warned.

Earlier, Israel killed Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran in July 2024.

Meanwhile, responding to IDF's recent efforts to free the dead hostages, Idan Shtivi and Ilan Weiss, Lt. Gen. Zamir said: "We are continuing our efforts and operations to repatriate all hostages, both those who are still alive and those who have died."

The IDF Chief of Staff thanked the reserve soldiers who will serve ahead of the plan approved by the security cabinet "to deepen the battle against Hamas" by conquering Gaza City in October, saying, "This mission is not over yet."

He also promised security for residents in the northern region, noting that some younger residents will return to school "for the first time since the start of tomorrow's war", and that Northern Command "continues to attack and destroy threats in the early stages."
