Kemenbud Inaugurates Panglipuran Traditional Village As A Village For Cultural Advancement

JAKARTA - In a series of international cultural conferences for Culture, Heritage, Arts, Narratives, Diplomacy, and Innovations (CHANDI) 2025, which will be held by the Ministry of Culture on September 3 - 5, 2025, at The Meru Sanur, Denpasar, an inauguration of the Panglipuran Traditional Village as a Village for the Advancement of Culture. This Panglipuran Village will later become one of the locations for visits from delegates in a series of events. CHANDI 2025 in an effort to support cultural sustainability.

In the Inauguration of the Panglipuran Traditional Village as a Village for the Advancement of Culture, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Culture, Bambang Wibawarta, said that this inauguration was a form of attention and contribution from the Government to Panglipuran Village as a form of national cultural development and utilization. "In the future, we also want to make Panglipuran Village a Cultural and Tourism Village which has noble values and can benefit many people," said Secretary General Bambang.

Furthermore, Secretary General Bambang also handed over gamelan devices and other supporting instruments to Panglipuran Village. This handover is a symbol of hope from the wider benefits of Panglipuran Village. Maybe later we can hold an event or cultural activity in Panglipuran Village, one of which is the visit of CHANDI 2025 state guests to this village," explained the Secretary General.

With the establishment of the Penglipuran Traditional Village as a Village for the Advancement of Culture, the Ministry of Culture hopes that efforts to preserve and accelerate culture can be carried out and supported directly by the community. Because actually culture itself belongs to the community.

The 2025 CHANDI activity series carries the theme 'Culture for the Future' which will explore how culture can function as a driving force for peace, sustainability, and creativity in the future. On September 5, 2025, delegates, participants, and invited guests are scheduled to conduct a study visit to Penglipuran Village. It is planned that a discussion will be held between delegates, participants, and invited guests and the community, to be able to provide strategies and benefits for efforts to preserve and develop culture in the Indigenous Village of Penglipuran.

Present gave a speech, the Regional Secretary of Bangli Regency, I Dewa Bagus Riana Putra, expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Culture for the attention given to Panglipuran Village. He considered this as proof of state protection for the rich culture and local values in Bali. "It is very appropriate when the Ministry of Culture provides a kind of noble program, which pays great attention to protecting local wisdom in Bali, especially customs that are packaged and protected by Panglipuran Village," said I Dewa Bagus Riana Putra.

Asrian Mirza; Secretary of the Directorate General of Cultural and Traditional Protection, Wawan Yogaswara; Director of Cultural Heritage, I Made Dharma Suteja; Director of History and Summary, Agus Mulyana; Director of Facilities and Cultural Infrastructure, Feri Arlius; Head of the XV Region Cultural Preservation Center Office, Kuswanto; Panglipuran Traditional Village, I Wayan Budiarta; as well as the ranks of the Ministry of Culture and residents of the Panglipuran Traditional Village.

Ending his remarks, Secretary General Bambang Wibawarta hoped that the inauguration of Panglipuran Village as a Village for the Advancement of Culture could be a starting point for continuous cooperation between the Government and various cultural communities as a form of preservation, development, and utilization of culture. "Hopefully what we can contribute to this opportunity can bring benefits to the Penglipuran Village. Of course we will continue to work together and communicate further to promote this village," concluded Secretary General Bambang.

The Ministry of Culture is committed to implementing the Law on the Implementation of Culture by supporting the level of the village government unit. Through the Village of the Administrative Reform, it is hoped that cultural conservation efforts starting from the smallest unit can continue to be carried out so that cultural traditions that are present in the daily life of rural communities continue.
