Ernest Prakasa Calls Books A Literacy Tool Against Ignorance
JAKARTA - Books not only function as a means of entertainment or a filler of free time, but also become an important medium in honing literacy and building a critical mindset.
Through a book, one can open a wider horizon of knowledge and fight the flow of ignorance. This is also believed by Ernest Prakasa, producer, director, writer, as well as film actor.
"Reading the book for me is a direct resistance to ignorance," said Ernest, who is also known as a comedian, at a press conference at the 2025 Indonesian Literacy Party: A Khatulistiwa Story" in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.
Ernest said books present deeper knowledge, as they were born from the experience, thoughts, research, and lengthy research of their authors.
"Because what will be obtained from reading books is the result of the knowledge and experience of someone who has studied that field of knowledge for years," he added.
