President Putin, Kim Jong-un And President Prabowo Will Attend The Military Parade In Beijing

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is planned to attend a military parade in Beijing, marking the leaders' first public appearance with President Xi Jinping.

No Western leader will be present among 26 heads of state and foreign governments attending next week's parade except Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, a member of the European Union, according to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.

With China's military power increasing background during the "Day of Victory" parade on September 3, the three leaders will show great solidarity, not only between China and developing countries, but also with Russia and North Korea being sanctioned.

The parade marking Japan's surrender in World War II will also be attended by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Iranian President Masoud Pezashkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to and South Korean National Assembly Chair Woo Won-shik, China's Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei told a news conference.

In addition, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will also attend the parade. Meanwhile, the United Nations (UN) will be represented by Deputy Secretary General Li Junhua, who previously served in various capacities at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Chinese Ambassador to Italy, San Marino and Myanmar.

On that day, President Xi Jinping will review tens of thousands of troops in Tiananmen Square along with foreign officials and senior Chinese leaders.

This very slick choreographed parade, which will be one of the largest in China, will feature advanced equipment such as fighter jets, missile defense systems, and hypersonic weapons.

It is known that Russia, which Beijing considers a strategic partner, has been hit by several rounds of Western sanctions imposed following its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, with its economy on the verge of recession. President Putin, sought by the International Criminal Court, last visited China in 2024.

Meanwhile, North Korea, China's official ally in the agreement, has been under United Nations Security Council sanctions since 2006 over its development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. Kim last visited China in January 2019.
