Is It True That The HPV Vaccine Has A Bad Impact On Fertility? This Is A Doctor's Explanation
JAKARTA - Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a virus that can cause various diseases such as cervix cancer, anogenital cancer, and anogenital wartils. This cancer is a serious threat to the world's population, including Indonesia, so vaccination needs to be done to prevent it.
However, the HPV vaccination process often experiences obstacles, one of which is the assumption that one is circulating in the community, such as the HPV vaccine, can have a bad impact on fertility.
Even though the HPV vaccine can have a bad impact on fertility, it is an assumption that is not true. Internal medicine specialist, dr. Anshari Saifuddin Hasibuan, Sp. PD, K-AI, confirmed that there is no evidence related to the HPV vaccine to interfere with fertility, so the assumption is a lie.
"That's not true (HPV vaccine has a bad impact on fertility)," said Doctor Anshari, during a media meeting in the Menteng area, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
"Until now there has been no research or related evidence. It's not researched because there is no evidence, yes, because it's a hoax, it's not true, that the HPV vaccine can affect fertility," he added.
The head of the PP PAPDI Immunization Task Force, Dr.dr. Sukamto Koesnoe, SpPD, K-AI, FINASIM, also emphasized that this was not true. He said that the HPV vaccine actually functions to build better immunity, to prevent transmission of the HPV virus.

The ingredients used in the HPV vaccine and the vaccination mechanism are not at all disturbing or related to other organs of the body, including reproductive organs related to fertility.
"The body of this vaccine is a particle that causes its immune system to increase specifically, but does not cause pain. So it has absolutely no connection with reproduction or other organs," concluded Doctor Sukamto.
