KUNINGAN - The Kuningan Resort Police (Polres), West Java, stated that there were indications of negligence in medical practices that did not meet the standards in the case of the death of the patient's fetus with the initials IR at the Linggajati Regional General Hospital (RSUD).
Kuningan Police Chief AKBP Ali Akbar said the findings were based on the results of the investigator's examination of 14 witnesses related to the alleged medical negligence case which had caused public unrest.
"From the witness examination, it is suspected that temporary indications of medical practice did not meet the standards," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 27.
The police will involve experts to update the results of the investigation, so that the process of handling the case can be more comprehensive.
The police chief said that investigators in the near future will hold an audience to deepen information and ensure that the legal process in this case runs transparently.
"In the future we will conduct expert examinations," he said.
Meanwhile, the Kuningan Regency Government has previously formed an independent team to carry out a thorough follow-up investigation into the case.
Kuningan Regent Dian Rachmat Yanuar said the step was taken as a follow-up to internal audits, as well as cross-professional organizations discussions that assess the need for deepening both medically and managerially.
"In order to ensure the objectivity of the investigation, we ask for help from the professional discipline assembly at the central level as an independent team," he said.

According to him, the audit results showed that there were technical aspects that had to be studied more deeply so that the team considered further investigations to be an urgent need.
To support this, he said, the local government decided to temporarily suspend the Director of the Linggajati Hospital until the investigation process was complete.
"This decision is not a sanction, but our commitment so that the investigation team can work independently," he said.
He also expressed his condolences to the patient's family, as well as an apology to the public for the incident that caused the unrest.
He said this case began when a pregnant woman with the initials IR, lost her fetus after two days of experiencing surgery without medical treatment at Linggajati Hospital in mid-June 2025.
"The incident received public attention after being uploaded via social media," he said.
