He Xiaopeng Predicts Only 5 Chinese Car Manufacturers Will Be Able To Survive Until 2030
JAKARTA X Peng Motors CEO He Xiaopeng, revealed a surprising prediction about the future of China's automotive industry in his latest interview. According to him, only five Chinese car manufacturers will survive in the next five years, amid the increasingly fierce competition in the sector.
This interview, shared through the X account by Lei Xing (@leixing77), has become a hot topic of conversation among global automotive observers.
"No Chinese automaker is out of the woods."
"Only 5 will remain."
"The ongoing knock-out round will reach its finale in about 5 years."
Rather radical comments from Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng in the latest episode of Luo Yonghao's Crossroads.
Maybe a bit alarmist, but I like this… pic.twitter.com/drYs3IMK8a

This prediction comes in a context where China's number of car brands increased dramatically from just more than 20 in the early 1990s to 84 in 2019. However, many of them are now in the status of the 'miracle company', with production operations suspended due to accelerated market consolidation.

He Xiaopeng said that the "elimination turnover" in China's automotive industry would peak around 2030. This reflects a very competitive and growing market landscape, where only high-innovation and efficiency companies can survive.
China's auto industry, which has been the largest market in the world since 2008, is currently dominated by domestic manufacturers focused on advanced electric vehicle (EV) technology and driving systems. This competition is getting more intense, especially with China's production capacity of more than 40 million internal fuel cars and around 20 million electric vehicles by the end of 2024.
This He Xiaopeng prediction highlights the enormous pressure facing Chinese automakers, where only the most adaptive and innovative will survive in the midst of rapid industrial transformation.
