Manchester United And Napoli Negotiate Hojlund Transfer

JAKARTA - Napoli are negotiating with Manchester United to get Rasmus Hojlund.

The Serie A team is looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku before the deadline for the transfer after the Belgian striker was out for up to four months due to a thigh injury.

They turned their attention to Hojlund, which is already on Manchester United's sell list for the arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Napoli are negotiating an initial loan for the 22-year-old, with the option or obligation to make it permanent next summer.

Manchester United gave the Danish National Team player, who still has a three-year contract remaining at Old Trafford, around 40 million pounds.

He was not included in the squad for Manchester United's first two Premier League games 2025/2026 against Arsenal and Fulham.

He was registered as a substitute for the summer's final friendly against Fiorentina, but Ruben Amorim still didn't play.

Hojlund was brought in from Atlanta with an initial $64 million deal in 2023.

He scored 10 league goals in his first season, but his form slumped in the 2024/2025 season and only scored four goals in the Premier League in 32 appearances.

AC Milan, Juventus, Fulham, and Celtic have all shown interest in Hojlund this summer.

He said during his pre-season tour in the United States that he would rather stay at the club this summer, but his playing opportunities looked very limited after Sesko's arrival.

Hojlund needs to get as many playing minutes as possible so he can defend the Danish National Team at the 2026 World Cup next summer. This means that moving is a priority option rather than staying at Old Trafford.
