Tigers Stop By Village Hall In Kuningan, It Takes 6 Hours To Evacuate
The joint team managed to evacuate a male leopard from inside the Kutamandarakan Village Hall in Kuningan Regency, West Java, after a handling process for about six hours.
Head of the Kuningan Regency Satpol PP Fire Department Andri Arga Kusumah said the initial report was received by his party at 08.55 WIB from the local village head regarding the presence of a leopard at the village hall.
"The leopard was first seen by a handyman named Imam Supendi who was working. He saw the animal in the village hall room," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 26.
After receiving the report, the Kuningan Fire Department immediately coordinated with a number of parties to evacuate at the location.
The evacuation process lasted a long time because the leopard was about three years old and still aggressive. Even so, handling can be completed around 15.20 WIB.
This evacuation process involved personnel from the Fire Department, BPBD Kuningan, BKPSDA Region III Cirebon, Kuningan Police and Kutamandarakan Village officials.
Andri explained that the joint team used guided bullets to calm the leopard. After collapsing, the animal was moved safely out of the room.
"The evacuation process cannot be carried out without anesthetics because it is very risky to endanger the safety of the team and residents," he said.

He emphasized that there were no casualties or material losses in the incident. However, if not immediately handled by the leopard, it is feared that it will pose a threat to the community.
Residents who were around the location, were worried considering that the village hall was the center of daily community activities.
The joint team ensures that the entire evacuation process takes place carefully, so as not to cause panic or other incidents.
"The leopards that were successfully secured were then handed over to the Cirebon Region III BKPSDA for further treatment according to the conservation procedure," he said.
