ISPA Cases In Tangerang Reach Hundreds Per Month, Children Become The Most Victims

TANGERANG - The Tangerang Regency Health Office (Dinkes), Banten, reported that around 300 residents in the area were infected with Acute Breathing Channel Infection (ISPA) every month due to the weather shift.

"Per month, out of a total of 44 health centers in Tangerang Regency, around 200-300 cases were found," said Tangerang District Health Office Head Hendra Tarmizi in Tangerang, Antara, Tuesday, August 26.

According to Hendra, the emergence of ARI cases was triggered by uncertain weather conditions and volatile air temperatures. The potential for an increase in cases can occur if people neglect to maintain their immune system.

"The most common sufferers are children aged 0-6 years. The reason is the weakening of endurance which often occurs during the transition season," he said.

However, the Health Office has not yet obtained data on the accumulation of ISPA cases from January to August 2025.

"Based on temporary data, this case occurs evenly in all sub-districts, unlike TB detected by region," said Hendra.

As a step in handling it, his party continues to monitor public health conditions through educational programs, counseling at the puskesmas, as well as cooperation with hospitals and examination laboratories to strengthen case detection.

"Antisipasi ISPA harus dengan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS). Untuk mereka yang tinggal di kawasan industri, diwajibkan memakai masker agar terhindar dari paparan polusi," kata Hendra.
