Indonesian Deputy Foreign Minister Urges OKI To Take Firm Action To Stop Israel's Plans To Export Gaza And The West Bank
JAKARTA - Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take firm action to stop Israel's plan to annex the Gaza Strip and stop the expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the Extraordinary Ministerial Conference (KTM-LB) of Islamic Cooperation Organizations (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia which was held to address Israel's plan to carry out a large-scale permanent occupation of Palestine and the annexation of Gaza.
Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta stressed that the vision of Israel Raya and Israel's efforts to make it a existential threat to the survival and existence of all countries in the region.
According to him, collective unity and mechanisms are needed to maintain the survival of OIC member countries.
"OKI needs to mobilize all strengths and resources to reject and stop Israel's full occupation plan over Gaza and expand settlements in the West Bank," said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tuesday, August 26.
Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia encouraged the OIC to cooperate with all international institutions to immediately end the war and distribute humanitarian aid to Gaza through all available routes.
The meeting was increasingly urgent after the United Nations declared that Gaza had reached a total level of hunger.
"There is nothing worse than making hunger a weapon of war and genocide against our brothers and sisters in Gaza," criticized the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
There is a shift in opinion globally starting to raise the Palestinian narrative in the public. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs asked the OIC to take advantage of this momentum to convince countries to recognize Palestinian independence, including urging the UN Security Council to hold a special session to end Israel's occupation of Gaza and the entire Palestinian territories.

The extraordinary meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the OIC this time adopted Resolution which strongly affirmed the attitude of the OIC, among others, rejecting Israel's planned occupation of Gaza, demanding the opening of a blockade on humanitarian aid, and encouraging countries and the United Nations to move to stop Israel's actions.
