The Stabbing Of The Mosque Imam In North Morowali Was Arrested, Positive For Drugs

JAKARTA - The North Morowali Resort Police (Polres), Central Sulawesi, arrested the perpetrator of the stabbing of a mosque imam in Tompira Village, East Petasia District with the initials AL aged 23.

Morut Police Chief AKBP Reza Khomeini said the perpetrators came from Balaang Village, Nuhon District, Banggai Regency, who lives in Tompira Village.

"We arrested the perpetrator along with evidence in the form of a knife or badik one cellphone belonging to the suspect," said Theodorus as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 25.

He stated that the victim was a Koran teacher named Muhammad Jumali who was 27 years old.

"The victim was stabbed by the perpetrator in the stomach while being the priest of the Fajr prayer at the Baiturrahman Mosque, Tompira Village," he said.

After stabbing the victim, the perpetrator was arrested by the congregation of the mosque who was at the location.

"The perpetrator who was arrested by the residents was beaten and suffered bruises on his face," he said.

Currently, the victim has received intensive care at the Kolonodale Hospital, Petasia District after receiving initial treatment at the Krisna Clinic, Bunta Village.

"We are still investigating the motives of the perpetrators because the confessions of the perpetrators often change and from the results of urine tests, the perpetrators are positive for using narcotics," he said.

Reza said that the victim and the perpetrator did not know each other.

"The perpetrator is already at the Morut Police Station and an investigation has been carried out," he said.
