The Call For The August 25 Demo Is Echoing, But Many Parties Confirm Not To Be Involved
JAKARTA - The plan for a major demonstration at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Monday, August 25, 2025, was widely circulated on social media. The invitation appeared on platform X to WhatsApp chain messages, with a number of large accounts participating in spreading calls.
The action is said to be highlighting various problems, one of which is related to housing allowances of IDR 50 million per month received by members of the DPR.
The call for demonstration on behalf of the 'Revolutionary People of Indonesia' group. However, until now there has been no confirmation from student organizations or laborers regarding their involvement.
Labor figures Jumhur Hidayat emphasized that they forbade members of the Confederation of All Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI) to participate because it was not clear who was in charge of the action.
"Because it is not clear who is in charge and also what is the issue he is demanding, I prohibit all KSPSI members throughout Indonesia, especially Jabodetabek, from participating in the August 25 action," he said, quoted by ANTARA last weekend.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) Kerakyatan also emphasized that there was no student action on August 25. They had already taken to the streets on August 21, 2025.
The demonstration plan also surfaced in Pati, Central Java, as a continuation of the action demanding Regent Sudewo resign due to the policy of increasing the PBB to 250 percent. However, the initiator, Ahmad Husain Hafid, stated that volume II action on August 25 was canceled.
He admitted that he had made peace with the Regent of Sudewo and rejected the action that he thought was starting to be ridden by political interests.
"The Alliance of the Pati Timur Bersatu Community declared the demonstration on August 25 canceled. I am no longer working there," he said.

Husain even praised the steps taken by the Regent of Sudewo, who according to him is now embracing the community. "I prefer leaders who really embrace the community and Pak Sudewo has already proven it," he said.
Thus, although the call for major action is widely circulated, there is no certainty who the movers will actually hold demonstrations today in Jakarta or other areas.
